Hello i was thinking about selling 10 -20 links for my sites. None of them sitewide. I was wondering whether this would damage my search engine rankings or what?

depends on what your rankings are, if they are at the tops then it hardly matters if you sell few links, since google sees that as you are an authority site linking to few useful sites, but do the linking smartly not just overnite give it two indexing and keep it smart

If you are selling few links it's OK but take care they should not be look as traded links try to put them as natural occurring with some reference/article with them also take care you should not link to site which are not related to your theme and should not involved in any blackhat tactics or are linkfarm site.

15-20 links on the index wont affect your PR of the index, will affect the PR of subpages. But your website wont hurt properly

Good if Google don't see or detect it... Bad if Google notices it...

Google hates buying or selling links...

Not all link sales are bad, just use nofollow attribute in your a href and Google will still consider it.

Generally, it won't affect your SEO.
Just make sure that the links you display on your site are related to the topic of your site.

If you put nofollow tag, why would people buy the link placement? I would definitely not buy it.

It all depends on whom you are linking too. If you chose to link to anybody who'll pay, then you will obviously be caught. Choose the people to whom you link to carefully. They should be useful for your readers......

For SEO, 10 to 20 links won't matter much, people do it all the time. Less outbound is better of course.

Just be careful, only sell links to relevant topical sites and avoid linking to bad neighborhood.

NoFollow tag will kill your sales, period. :D

If you advertise the fact that you're selling links you could lose your PR and authority. If all monetary exchanges are done in private you would be reasonably safe.

a few links won't matter much, but do it slowly. sell a few links a month, let those out going links get indexed first, before you add more!
    cheers!:)

and you may even get banned :mad:better avoid selling and just build your site for helping other and linking to other useful sites and getting your link at their site, ( link-exchange ) this will help you to gain traffic and thus sales.
