Thinking about becoming a Host Reseller - Best Site for this?

    Hey All,
I'm a web developer and when I create websites for people, I will usually have them create an account at icdsoft.com and then get the information from them so that I can administrate the site. I've been thinking that I should start reselling host plans for profit. I've been checking out HostGator and Godaddy so far. They have different approaches:

HostGator charges a monthly fee for a set amount of space from which you create accounts.

Godaddy charges a yearly fee and then charges you a fee for each product sold. The difference between what you've sold it for and the buy price is your profit.

My question is, What has been the most profitable plan for most people? Also, Does anyone have any recommendations for a good reseller company? I don't plan to make this a huge business (the competition is fierce I'm sure) but I would like to have a web hosting site that I can refer my clients to.

    Any advice is much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Well, anytime you can get your web design clients to host with you, it's definitely a bonus. IN fact most designers I work with don't give clients the choice. They host with them, period.. it comes with the design package/quote. I actually advise that.

    Here's the thing...
Because you're a developer, presumably you work with your client's closely and they know you well. So, when you start hosting their sites, even though you can make a nice profit from it, you also are more responsible for their sites.

So, I would suggest that you look more closely at the host and try to stay away from these "budget hosts"..

Well, I've seen many people satisfied with Hostgator Reseller Hosting packages.

You can check real webmaster HostGator Reviews and Coupons if interested.

hey Cyanide, do you have other suggestions other than these "budget" hosts? I usually have my clients use icdsoft.com because the support is unmatched in my opinion. It just seems that there host reseller program is not very robust. I like the idea of having my own company face when it comes to hosting.

    Thanks for the info!

    The big contradictions are sickening..

Yeah, hey so and so host is great! - and by the way click on my link so I can make money off you.. yeah, that's real un-biased reviews.

Reselling is a great idea if your developing many sites for others. Definitely do not go with godaddy. I recommend your other possible choice HostGator and check out Hostican too.
