So you wont read the book of mormon because you dont believe it came from golden tablets? Thats a little unfair then to be bashing it if you dont have a good knowledge of it.

The "wrong" comes from religion constantly holding society back from progressing. The "wrong" comes from the power religion holds over people, and the MILLIONS of murders it has caused and continues to cause every day.

I don't have 4 precious years of my short life to completely waste reading about made up religions by joseph smith and the magic gold tablets. South park did a fine job summing it up in 30 minutes .

Does it really matter that it's on gold or not? Gold is one of few metals that doesn't rust (or rusts very very slowly) - and from what I recall, it was instructed they be written on gold by God as to not rust and lose its legibility.

Not to mention the mobs that tried to get the gold plates from Joseph... OBVIOUSLY something was going on of worldly value that they wanted...

 

I am not bashing it at all. I just made some clarifications about what was mentioned earlier. Especially the mentioning of where Jesus was born.

You can't stereotype EVERY religion with that. Ours is one of few that is not involved in political conflict. In the early days of the restored church, it was, yes, but it didn't create world-wide wars.

Our religion doesnt believe that, we believe adam and eve came somewhere around that time but that the earth was created long before that. also, the word "day" when refering to the 7 day creation period was figurative and is 7 days Gods time, whatever that is.
