Think I got scammed..

    Hi all,

    I need some advice.

I recently bought some Bitcoins from someone and used Paypal to send him the money. I still haven't received them in my account. Tried to contact the seller and it says "Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: " This looks really fishy right now and seems like I am scammed.

Problem is, Paypal don't allow currency to be traded, but I've always treated Bitcoins as a "Virtual Item" and I can't make a chargeback, because I paid with funds in my Paypal account and not via a Credit card.

In the Paypal payment I sent, I wrote a short description about what the payment was for (Bitcoins). Paypal will probably class it as a currency transfer which is against their policy but if I started a dispute with the seller, do you think I will win? and whether my account will be frozen?

Not sure what to do now and I think I will have to try the dispute and take a gamble?

Hope you guys can help me.

    Thanks

I just emailed him from his paypal email and this is a reply I got from him:

I told him that I will give him 1 week to recover my funds or I will escalate a dispute. Is this the right thing to do?

    Anyone help me here? :(

    There were 2 options:
    • I'm paying for goods or services $0.00 USD fee. The seller pays the fees.Your eligible transactions are covered with PayPal Buyer Protection
    • I’m making personal payments (i.e. shared expenses, rental charges, payment owed and others)

and I selected this ""I'm paying for goods or services"

You got nothing to lose by opening a dispute.

Take Paypal money out before making a dispute just in case what you say comes true that way if they freeze you wont have money in there anyway.

Thanks, yeah I thought about that.
Seems like they don't have buyer and seller protection for digital goods.

Haha, that has happened to me and I still did not get my money back (and I really don't intend to provide them with my payment card information). I would advise everyone to be very cautious about using Paypal.

OP, please keep us informed, this is interesting.

I probably will open dispute. The guy saying that s/he willing to pay you back, in this case, you will get back your money once s/he agree on the dispute

    Damn.Tough luck.
Best option is to call Paypal and speak about the problem,i dont think there is any other alternative apart from this.
