I know you hear questions like this a lot, but - I'm starting a computer site today, do you think that by September I can be pulling in $25 a day? I don't really know how much computer ads earn, but I'm assuming they are pretty good paying. For comparison, I started my Halo 2 Glitches site just a few weeks ago, and it has been getting 200-300 visitors a day now (sometimes more). Normally I make $1 or $2 from it, but the last 2 days there has been a certain ad that must be paying around 50 cents (compared to the normal 5 cents I usually get), so for the past couple of days I have made over $5 each day from just that ad channel. Soo.... do you think computer ads pay 50 cents or higher, and do you think I could get enough traffic to be making $25 a day by September? I realllly want a nice car next summer, so I want to make $25 a day, that way I don't need a real job
You'll need lots of traffic to accomplish that goal. At the same rate as your Halo site, your Computer site will need to average 3,750 visitors per day. It may take more than a month to work up to that number, but good luck to you.
Hello, As you PMed me asking about my Computer site, I can answer a few items here. For one, whats your idea of the computer site? That is a rather broad term. For me, my site is based solely around Computer Security, and the idea of being "free". What idea do you have that is unique? Patrick
Well if each computer ad is worth at least 50 cents, then 300 visitors=$5 (if the same % click as on my Halo site). So in that case I would need 1500 visitors, where do you get 3750 from?
irideflatland...I was using your Halo site numbers as a gauge. Obviously, if your site is in a different niche your mileage may vary. However, computer folks are sometimes less inclined to click on ads than gamers, so you may have a lower CTR which offsets your EPC.
Umm... I guess I'm hoping to get ranked well for certain phrases. Not like "computer help" but something more specific. That's how it is with my Halo site. I don't get very many hits from people searching "Halo 2 glitches", but rather "halo 2 glitches lockout superjump" or something like that. That's a good point, though I was thinking the opposite way. I guess advanced users might not click, but newbies probably will. Like if they are reading one of my tutorials, or if they are looking to download software, they probably would be clicking ads.
That's the fun thing about Adsense, irideflatland. You never know what's going to happen from day to day or site to site. Those "Interneters" are odd folks sometimes. One things for sure, though. Your computer site will definitely make money...you just don't know how much until you do it. Best of luck to you.
Depends on how much traffic you can get and the amount that advertisers are bidding for the keywords you are targetting. Luckily there are tools that can help you estimate both (e.g. Wordtracker, Yahoo Bid Tool, etc).
nothing is impossible ,just a hard work needed ,yea me too just started a months ago and my target by end of 2006 is $100/daily ,always think big if you can't reach the target atleast you'll reach near to it .
Yeah, I've used the Yahoo bid tool, but it still doesn't tell me how much I'll be getting per click. Most of the computer keyword bids though are 75 cents +, and most of my gaming keyword bids are less than 25 cents. For some reason I didn't get the good paying ads on my Halo site yesterday, but today they are back again. I guess they are only paying about 30 cents, but my eCPM is almost $25
I find using a keyword density tool like the one at ranks.nl a good way to determine what keywords the AdSense bot will find on your copy. Then you can put those keywords into the Yahoo bid tool. Of course, Yahoo has a different ad inventory to Google so it only gives you a rough idea (and you should take the top 3 ads and average the bid). Helps if you can automate it $25 is a fantastic ECPM!
Remeber the 75 cent bids you see are for Google Ads (assuming similar bids to yahoo) not for content ads. Most big players place a MUCH lower bid on their content ads. I bid up to $2 for Google ads but never more than 10cents on content ads equivalent.
whitespider, I think this must vary by niche. The search bids have been quite a good guide for content earnings in the areas I work in.
Detonate - you could be right, I don't profess to know the entire marketplace but in the main I would say that BIG Adswords bidders are careful with their money. I accept that some will see decent ROI from content ads. I get an OK ROI from them but only at a lower price. Apology for being over general in my comment
Yeah, I heard recently that content works better for niches with lower bids than higher bids - don't know if this is true. With my AdWords advertising, I have found that the content network is slightly more expensive to convert - about $20/conversion versus $15 for the search network. Not enough of a difference to substantially alter my bids though.
Even if the bids are for search, they are still at least 3x as high as the gaming ads. But I stil can't figure out why there is this really well paying ad either... it must be related to Halo 2, because I'm getting a 5-10 percent CTR. Hopefully it stays
You should be able to do $25 with less than 3000 because I would imagine cpc of computer ads would be pretty good. Then again, people frequenting on computer sites are one of the least likely to click.
