1. When the directory uses the software with the incredibly hard to read image verification code. It is both human and bot proof. 2. When you submit a link and the page refreshes and sets the category to "Top". Usually you can use your browsers BACK option to submit to the same category again. 3. Reciprocal free links when your site is never approved 4. Paying for a premium link that never gets approved and having to go through the hassle of contacting the webmaster and/or getting your money back.
Well when they aren't free and 1 day ago they where ... Plus it takes to mutch time And the last image validation that is hard to read ....
When you click "add url" from WITHIN a category, and the category field is NOT auto-filled when you get to the submission form. WTF?
Addition of useless fields like "meta description", "meta keywords" to be filled along with "normal description". Then validating these additional fields for character length... Is submitting a normal description not enough? Isn't there already enough typing required???
One of the submitters I found is the crack head. he made a script so, each page of his site is shown as a subdomain. us.HisDoamain.info Canada.Hisdomain.info And that guy submits every day to every one of directories. Each day two or three different pages. Sent him emails requesting him not to submit but he kept on going. This is the most hated part for me. Thanks
1. When I have to guess what the rules are... a. Deep links yes/no b. Length of description c. Blogs yes/no 2. Yet another vote against incomprehensible captchas 3. Putting me on the sex toys spam list from hell - whoever you are may your parts simply fall off 4. When you don't tell me the limitations on the description length, accept my submission, and then truncate the description I submitted to something that looks like crap.
Having to register for an account (I simply ignore those directories) When it doesn't auto fill the category section.
When people do not bother to read any of the submission rules - like keyword stuffing in the title section. Now, I do not mind a keyword or two, but when I see 20-50 and no title it is annoying especially on a free directory.
thats true for my case also with image verification . Several occassions in some directories I have to try a couple of times but could not get trough and l left. Irritating
right, like having to add keywords. A good directory should never let the submitters pick the keywords.
Well, I guess my directory is really annoying people then. I have a very long and complex form, with captha image too
