They do not want to link to me!

I have decided to increase the promotion of my directory, so I was in a hunt for a quality PR8 link. I found a few quality sites that are selling links, however, when I contacted them none wanted to link to a web directory! One even said my site is a link farm.

The problem could be that I was not looking for any PR8 link, but quality home page link, and possibly sitewide with only a few outbound links. It looks like most of these guys have only heard of Yahoo and DMOZ

    Link Farm

    Web Directory

Should I bother explaining to them that web directory is not a link farm, or should I just keep looking? Apparently none of them are aware of the fact that linking to a quality web directory could not hurt PR of the site.

And I thought this will be a walk in a part...and that money was all I needed :(

I'm not sure why you would want a PR8 anyway.
I believe it will just draw attention to your site... and not in a good way unfortunately.

Go on over to Directorycritic dot com, register and if your site is seo friendly it will be listed. Once you register you can submit to other direcories. Set a goal of 4 and above.

Their software will track your submissions if you login each time. Try not add a lot at any one time.

    Good luck.

mail google, ask if you can buy a text link on one of their PR10 pages.
i wonder if they would reply.

your best bet is to sponsor good looking templates, then all these people who buy sites and put directories on them will give you thousands of backlinks.

people with PR8 sites are likely to not sell text links...

There are quite a few strong PR directories if your look hard enough. Most with prices under $50.

i've read many times through out this forum about buying quality links from high pr sites and which can also lead to getting tons of traffic from these but no one seems to actually mention who these directory or sites are....

can anyone just mention a few high pr and good traffic driver sites where one can purchase or submit a link?

i'm very interested in investing in a couple of good links if my pr and my traffic get highly improved

I understand www.generaldirectory.org was sold and my links there were taken out. New owner is domainin.in and he havent replied yet to the previous owners PM. My link there should stay until after PR Update in August. There were some that were allowed to stay but not me. People loves Grande French Fries.

Another whacking spree without even asking me.

Are you dead serious ? I paid for it when it was PR5 so linking me to a PR0 would like being given a baloney sandwich instead of the ham, egg and cheese that I ordered.

This directory selling should have some announcement or at least an honor code from buyer/sellers. Happened twice already. First with Find It Fred and this.

Next time I buy links at DP on longer terms I will ask if they are selling their sites. This case i know that I can be safe from WHACKING since I am just a never heard owner.

    Thanks

forget the ignorant people out there- otherwise your brain will hurt...

Forever people have told me that article directories will become link farms - when in fact they seem to get rewarded more and more.

    LOL

No, I was just looking for a PR8 link because I heard it will get me a lot of traffic. And that it the only reason I want that link...I swear :p

But honestly, all of these sites are selling links, but none want to link to a web directory  I just don't understand why? Yet, all PR7 sites are more than willing... but these don't send a lot of traffic, you know

    Velocity--
I can vouch it for you. I have contacted one site (PR8) which is an Authority site and very renowned--and the Administrator said that they are not accepting Web Directories. But if I had content based sites --they were ready to accept. I also saw a SEO site getting listed there.

What I did was sent him a link to Matt Cutts report paid links post and also this Screenshot:p I told him what it is all about.:D

Strange Pr8 site owners are now acting like racists to directory owners.

Would you appeal again to a racist ? That should simplify your delima ...

It's total BS, that's what it is. 99% of them have PR8 just because they have one link or something like that from some open source site, or they are open source "non profit" organization themselves.

Now they are cashing in on people who are totally oblivious to the fact that $250 per month could be put to much better use if you are after rankings. If those people knew better, these PR8 owners would be more than happy to link to us, because we would be their only customers ;)

And me...I am just upset because I really wanted a PR7 directory. It has always been my dream :p
