these old, outdated link request forms on websites....

    I was doing some research and wanted to know your thoughts :)

    While doing seo, I see that many of my competitors use a form to request a link to their pages. It says that one must put a link to theirs first, then fill out the form. Many of these pages were built at a time when straight reciprocal linking was good, or the norm. Say I want to put in a 3 way link request on this form. So where it says put in the url of the page where our link is... can I put in my other websites' (the one I use to manage link requests) Will it be safe to assume that most of these systems will take it or not really?

    I find that most of them do, especially the older ones.

    But others will give you a message like "Reciprocal link must be on the same domain".
