To respond to a couple points,

    - We have quality control of the advertisements we promote. We realize that if we put obvious spam on the front page of Digg, all of our users will be banned.

    - We have an algorithm in place that makes our users' activity appear mostly normal. We think we can pull it off... even User/Submitter, with their ghetto site, was able to do it many times.

I doubt he has anything to backup his claims - he might pitch, we don't have any proof and that is why we only charge $1 per digg, eventually when we have stuff to show you - we will charge $10 per digg. LOL

What are the chances that Digg will catch on and ban all the paid diggers? I think I've seen schemes like this before and they haven't lasted very long.

It's unreasonable to expect something as powerful as Digg to not turn commercial in some sense.
I agree with the owner: 1$ per post is really not that much.

    a couple more points:

    - we are launching in less than a week... so no, we have nothing to show yet

    - other sites have failed to take the required steps to prevent their users from getting banned. We have been much more thorough. Read this blog post if you'd like to read a few reasons how:

After being so skeptical about this - I think I will wait for some DP user to use the service and then post a review. I think all ideas should have chance and some end up being scams - in fact, lot of them end up being scams. So lets wait and watch - what happens to this!

word on the street is also that most digg users don't even click on the advertisements...

    I don't and I digg daily at least 100 times a day :)

So basically you will get the word out about your website, but be prepared for a hefty bandwidth bill if they don't kill your server ;)

    2 cents.

Nice way of getting your site banned forever.

Hire a freelancer, Pay him $70 to write an excellent tutorial on Emerging tech or framework, promote it well after submitting it to digg and you will automatically get 70 diggs.

    Advantage - CONTINOUS Quality traffic

yeah it is a lot because this is useless..

sure you can pay $ 100 to get front page , then what? the story probably sucks because you had to PAY people to digg it and everyone will just bury it once you reach front page.

not to mention 99% of the time digg traffic produces no noticeable increase in ad revenue, just a bigger bandwidth bill. Its great for getting links though.

I think it's very good idea and service if you want to get instant traffic after launch of some really good website or service. Looking for long term effect i think the best is SEO and natural link building to get natural rankings on SE. But get some :))) visitors from the first day of launch could be great opportunity. Fact, that there should be strict quality requirements for websites entering such service.

I would say $1 for a digg by unknown memebrs is worthless if some digg memeber who is is top 100 is ready to digg i can give up2 $25 as i am pretty sure the story will hit frontpage then.

    NetworkTown.Net

Imagine this...You have a site (site A) that has say...100 members. On another site (site B) you get a bunch of digg orders charging $1.00 a click . Now you tell your members from site A that they can earn $0.50 for every site that they dig. Your members are happy cause they make money easy, and they appear real to Digg. Your customers are happy because they are getting apparently real diggs, and you are happy because you are making money hand over fist. Maybe I should get off this forum, and get to work on my new site!
