That's not gonna be much comfort for people who don't already have a Google Directory listing, though...

I'm waiting for a press release from google today. If not there is a technical problem.

Using PR as your means of evaluation was always a flawed practice. I for one welcome the change as before PR, links were based on the factors that actually matter.

I also can't wait to expand my advertising budget as now prices will actually be based on relevancy and unique visitors. No more wasted money on webmasters who inflate their prices.

I think it's irrelevent, it's just a statistic, does it really make a difference? Will we change the way in which we market our sites and go about our business? Probably not.

the only people who are going to really suffer is people who sell links based on pr, but i dont think they will care since they have already made such as a nice profit.

I honestly don't think it's anything more than a technical hitch. Peoples lives revolve too much around computers, go outside and take a deep breath, it's only a number!

I basically look at everything like advertising in general. You cannot really drive yourself crazy with link strategies and so on. Algorithms do change and starting over again and again is not my cup of tea. Certain methods work always and on several levels at the same time. I am more about buying advertising on sites which give you exposure and beneficial links at the same time.

Good post, once I understood it.

I agree, GreenWood. You can evaluate a good site by the frequency of the cache update, since the more Googlebot visits, the more likely the cache will be fresh, and will continue to be fresh.

I would love them to bring back toolbar PR with a 1-100 range, now that would be cool.
