That's a terrible example really. New York is such a strong Blue state and you wonder why most people by the more liberal paper. Come on.

You also need to understand that not all people who buy these papers live in the city itself. The political nature of the state is blue, that is a given. Fox news is the most watched network because the trend of conservatives in America. The Times is the most purchased paper in New York because the state is heavily moderate to liberal in nature.
I don't wonder. I know why they buy it. They buy it on choice based on their beliefs. If you really think you understand how consumer demand works, then you would see the trends of purchases based on political affiliation. Bring a liberal paper to a Blue state = top seller. Bring a liberal paper to a Red state = far from top seller. I hope you aren't hinting at your knowledge level as superior, btw. That's a bad area to go in debating.
