Photoshop/Illustrator CS3 is definitely the combo to go with. You'll never be left apart if you have problems. If you don't have the money, GIMP (http://plasticbugs.com/?page_id=294) is another good option.

How can I save something I've made in Illustrator to be able to open it and resize it in Photoshop? Like, if I make a logo in Illustrator, but I want to open it in Photoshop to do a few more things to it, how would I go about doing that?

I have a try Photoshop CS3, nice job! But it is expensive. I love photo and movie. I always put my favourite photos and videos together to make a slideshow, and burn it to DVD.
:)Edit photo just find photoshop (http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshop/f/freephotoshop.htm)
;)Make photo slideshow with 3D effects just find DVD Slideshow Builder.(http://www.photo-to-dvd.com).
