I'm trying to become a more spiritual person and in that process it's clear to me that the focus of energy in most religious practices is completely misguided and dangerous. Religions seem like gangs to me, kill or convert, and once you're in, you're family. Then it's all about the us against them attitude and judgment and doom. Christians consider Jews the imperfect Christians but seem to unite with them against Muslims. As far as the rest, I don't really know what they think but I don't want to get any more collectivist. The only core truth that i see is Oneness and God is Love. That's IF that element exists in a particular sect. These "gangs" are all man's interpretation of God and hate each other for the next man's interpretation. But if God is Love then why the hate? It's my belief also that the subject of evil is an interesting one. Christians use evil to blame anything they disagree with and say the devil is behind it. But evil even in the Bible has little strength compared to the power of God. I believe that this world is home to evil and our souls in the form of bodies are tested in it's environment. If you respect the evil - that is put there for a purpose - and focus on what you WANT, it will leave you alone. So any evil in anyone's life is ultimately because that person let it in themselves, through our everyday decisions, and let it grow. What's the purpose of life? If you are religious, your human masters may tell you that it is to walk the narrow road that your God has planned for you, and you very often find yourself judging other people because you may be jealous of their free life style? I personally believe our purpose is to grow as a soul into a higher consciousness, through reincarnation and trial and error. Earth is just a school for your soul to develop in. If you are alive today, it is because you are imperfect and have something to learn. No one is perfect, and it is an abomination to the Divine One to prop up Popes or others who rule over people, as if they are more spiritually developed. It is impossible to both think you are perfect and understand why you are truly here. If All is One, and you understand that we are all connected, you will understand building walls and burning bridges is the exact opposite of our intended purpose. Whatever religion you believe in, can it at least be said that ignorance is NOT strength?
My view is that this world is just a filter for good and bad and the real world is the hereafter, which the lowest rank, is 10x that of this world..
Nothing wrong with being spiritual nate. Pat Condell had this to say about the difference between spirituality and religion. If you're a spiritual person, you don't need religion, and you know it. And you're certainly not interested in forcing your beliefs onto anybody else. If you're not a spiritual person, then what the bloody hell are you doing on your knees praying like an idiot, like some dog that's been taught how to do something without understanding why. Get up and stop making a fool of yourself, because your faith is not a virtue, it's a vice. It's a slave to dogma, to scriptural certainties which are nevertheless open to self-interested interpretation by men. Not only do the religious claim that their particular god exists they also claim to know what he thinks they should wear, what he thinks they should eat and how he wants them to mutilate their child's genitals. Pat was right when he said the religious faith is not a virtue, it's a vice. it's self serving. How obnoxious and self centred would someone have to be to believe that the creator of the universe is at all interested in what they eat?
You just called 1.8 billion people on this planet dogs and idiots. I wonder what would happen if you said it face to face instead of like a hard man over the internet.
Knowing muslims, I would be murdered and decapitated. The christians would passive aggressively "turn the other cheek" and tell me they are praying for me. The Buddhists probably wouldn't care. The scientologists would take me to court.
How a man who claims to be a scientologist, can call 1.8 bil ppls dog , with knowing that he could be taken to a court
Nate, I wouldn't trust any of these whackjobs, myself included, to help you find the meaning of life. Try the Hannity Forums. lol
There is no ultimate meaning or purpose to life. We are here because one of the following reasons or something similar: 1- Our parents wanted a copy of themselves and continue living through us. 2- They felt obliged to follow the tradition and society norm and have a child 3- It was an accident 4- There was nothing good on TV. That said, it shouldn't stop us having fun before we kick the bucket.
So true. The atheists would turn to reason, realise that they're not dogs and it's only your opinion and your right to free speech, then move on with living their unbelievably awesome lives.
Not at all. George actually helped me to buy the new house that I am buying in Spain from the money that I borrowed couple of years ago in dollar and converted to Euro ( I am paying almost nothing for the place) and North is my nightly entertainment when I come back from the bars or waiting to go out. In this place, nothing starts before 12 o'clock at night but continues until 7 in the morning.
That explains both your incoherence and the particular attraction you seem to feel for me. I'm sure that's true. Sad, but true. Some things just can't be fixed, brother. Best thing is to acknowledge the deficiency, and move on.
I noticed that you have signed this post with your name but do you terribly mind if I continue to refer to you as North? Cinderella is too long to type.
