ive been looking at themes forever and hardly ever find one that i almost like

all i want is a basic but professional looking theme, rite sidebar, full width or at least i can change it in the editor. and have posts like this where it only shows a preview of the post and links to the rest. it doesnt have to be two posts next to each other but thats fine it can just be one post at a tie down the page

I've come across many such themes but I cannot remember one with exact name.
Try to google: pinterest wordpress theme
This is just a hint, not sure if you can find what you want

Well I looked at up one of the articles by name, found it on http://webmastertuts.com/ and then viewed the source to find the following line:
    Code (markup):
This let me know that they use a theme called Place. Searched for Wordpress theme Place and found it on http://themeforest.net/item/place-responsive-blogging-wordpress-theme/4714951

So if you want the same theme that they used, then it's there for $40. If you need help, let us know.

You could also use a search for "magazine style wordpress theme". That's their general term for this type of layout, with a variable number of posts, with or without slider and with one or two sidebars (and other stuff in most cases). Some freebies that spring to mind are Silver Orchid, Calotropis, Max Magazine, Wrock Metro, Magazine Basic and so on.

That Place theme is nice. I've been experimenting with Magazine basic. However, it looks too much like wikipedia. Therefore, I'm dabbling with the Expound theme right now. It's avaiable free with premium WP hosting via Dreamhost.
