Theme Pyramid - Or Themed Site Maps

    Greetings,
Just contemplating this idea... Most of our serps disappeared in Google. Our site has a jumble of content - everything from Antiques - to art - to history - to health... I was wondering if they have turned up themed based results?

Ex: Search for artists "Manet" - results should be picked from sites that are about "art". Non-themed sites should be pushed further down in the serps even if the information is relevant.

At the current time, we do not have a themed based site map.

Ex: Art -> Artists -> Manet

Our current site map is simply an alpha listing of articles.

Does anyone think it would be important to go back and build themed based site map? Eg: Connect related articles together on a page.

    Thanks.

Yes. I imagine it would be a big help to your visitors. Start with that thought - it may not make a huge difference (yet) to Google and Googlebot but it won't hurt.

I agree with Minstrel. For the point of a user a theme based sitemap will keep visitors coming back.
