    It could mean the theme/style of the design and layout, or it could me the subject matter of the content

    i think when they say theme, its more the second (based on the content of your site)

    if you site was mainly about video games, the theme of the site would be video games/gaming.

    Yes, for me, it simply means the content nature, web design, internet marketing etc..

    The Theme if you go by Frontpage is the overall view of your site like color of pages,type of banner etc.
