    Site explorer is just a great tool to view how many links are actually pointing out to your website. It updates more frequently so I find it more useful.

    That's correct.

    Every search engine will (hopefully) index your pages without the need of using their tools.

    Yahoo! siteexplorer gives another options as well, you can submit feeds/sitemaps and gain statics, you can gain full stats that might not be shown on a normal search, good luck :)

    Yah I have been using site explorer for a while now, it works really well for people interested in getting the specifics of their site. Google and MSN offer webmaster tools as well. I use all 3 and have found it to be very beneficial in online marketing. Lets me know if my backlinks are appearing to the search engines.
