Eric Ward of SEL fame has challenged Sphinn users to find the 10 mistakes contained within an email he received requesting a link exchange. http://searchengineland.com/071022-115731.php Can you identify the 10 mistakes? - Matt
It's disappointing that a story like this manages to get Sphunn 50 times yet hardly anyone is interested here. Nice one Quizak, agree completely. A few other obvious ones: Email sent from a Gmail account. Screams unprofessionalism. Subject reads "Link Exchange Request" and . Mentions PageRank. Who cares about PR? The standard of English sucks. If anyone is actually interested, take a look at the Sphinn comments. - Matt
i never knew till now how bad i am in doing link exchanges.. i do get emails like those. and yet i do exactly the same thing.. oh my.. at least now i know.. nice thread you got here.. now I'm learning.. hope many people will notice this.. thanks Matt.. great help for me. now I'm actually learning here in DP..
... what is the best way to contact the company for your request? and if not Gmail account? how about yahoo?...
If you're running a reputable site surely you would have email addresses setup using the site's domain name? - Matt
i am soooooooo guilty of using my gmail address for everything. I am not much of an email person, can only be bothered to check one and I really love gmail. I realize i can get google aps and did so for one site but i dont love the longer login url. i have loads of sites and like all the mail to come to one spot.
I have a few spams asking for a link for some of my PR 5 sites, I just delete their requests. Don't feel that it is right to spam others for links.
i see nothing wrong with sending it from a gmail account. it's probably the most professional free email out there.
You can actually set up a shorter address like mail.domain.com that will direct you to the google apps site.
I pretty much delete any link exchange request I get anymore. It's just not worth my time to deal with it.
