The worst SEO'ed website I have ever seen

    As featured on Slashdot and CNET today the website www.mobience.com may have some innovative ideas but its the least search engine friendly website I've seen.

    This is the source code of the homepage:
    <html>
    <meta name="keywords" content="text input, text entry, input solution, input interface, mobile devices, mobile qwerty, qwerty, software keyboard, universal, ubiquitous">
    <meta name="copyright" content="Mobience, Inc.">
    <title>Mobience - A Universal Text Input Solution for Mobile Devices</title>
    </head>
    <body leftmargin=0 topmargin=0 scroll=no>
    <embed width=100% height=100% fullscreen=yes src="mobience.swf?INITIAL_VIEW=page">
    <a href=files.html></a>
    <script language='javascript' id='log_script' src='http://weblog003.cafe24.com/weblog.js?uid=mobience&uname=mobience.com'></script>
    </body>
    </html>
    Code (markup):
    Edit: It still manages to get 50 pages indexed. Who said Google can't spider flash?

    Have you seen worse? Post them here.

    No? I'll try...

    One I came across recently:

    http://www.sendit.co.uk/

    1. Without www you get a 404.
    2. Everything is loaded from a 3d URL and framed up.

    <html>
    <head>
    <title></title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    </head>
    <frameset rows="100%,*" cols="100%" border="0" framespacing="0">
    	<frame src="http://206.125.210.131" frameborder="NO"
    scrolling="AUTO">
    </frameset>
    <noframes>
    <body bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
    Redirection to <a href="http://206.125.210.131">here</a>
    </body>
    </noframes>
    </html>
    Code (markup):
    3. Relies almost entirely on JavaScript (try switching JS on and off - it's like day and night)
    4. Sound! (OK nothing to do with SEO)
    5. Etc.

    It does. No one will be able to find you again if they want but can't remember they got to you via /.

    You also get a good link, maybe loads more if people blog about it. Yet it's useless because no matter how many links you get your site won;t get nay better from it.

    When you are spending as much as this company probably is there seems little point in cutting corners in terms of SEO.

    true, that was more of a joke that didnt turn out right. Would getting /.(ed) (PR9 - I think) give a site a massive PR increase?

    Google doesn't care as much about on page optimization as you'd want to believe
    I know of a site thats basically full of javascripts and some outgoing links
    yet it shows number 1 for a few 100k/month searches.
    And its been like that for as long as I've watched it.

    Yeah, links are still ultimately the deciding factor but IMO it's just plain silly to deny yourself such a simple opportunity of more (and to immer pages, more targeted) traffic.

    And besides SE's, JavaScript and Frame sites are bad for usability anyway.

    Wow, thats a whole new level.. But I mean they did include the meta tags... Google can basically figure out everything it needs to know from there...

    cough cough ;)

    A huge amount of traffic comes from the long tail of searches. Its this that the un-spiderable sites are missing out on mainly.

    In my experience, no matter how well you optimize for 1, 2 and some 3 word phrases, the 'unaccounted for' phrases consistently outperform the optimized ones in sheer traffic and ROI, always, on any site.
