Tuong Tieu, owner and proprietor of BallOfTape.com, has put his 60-pound ball of tape up for auction Ebay. The auction, which ends April 19, 2005, is for the rights to what is arguably the largest ball of its kind in existence. Constructed of 1000 rolls of invisible tape--the kind you'd expect to find in an office desktop dispenser--the tape ball weighs in at just over 60 pounds. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5572335347
I know people may think I am crazy but that is actually a really good deal at the $900 its currently at. Im surprised Golden Palace hasn't bid it up as the real value is in the PR that has been generated and the domain.
Maybe they've run out of space with all the breasts and old pieces of toast the've bought recently? Or maybe they just discovered a bid sniping service and are waiting for the dying seconds.
ok...how in the world do you guys find these things? It's not like I would do a search for 'ball of tape' on ebay.
We find them the same way Golden Palace does, they get tons of publicity. These type of auctions aren't really abotu products. Basically you are paying $1000 for 100' if not 1000's of natural links and a whole lot of publicity. Many times Golden Palace gets in the mainstream press when buying these things. This is publicity you just can't buy. This doesn't work with all industries of course but Golden Palace doesn't care about respect. They want you to recognize your name if you decide to gamble online and in an industry that has so many scammers, name recognition is a huge plus.
