Well, on that you are correct. However, the President can do some very interesting things, like issuing executive orders to the Sec. of the Treasury. IIRC, Bernanke will also end his 5 year term, so technically this incoming President or the next could nominate the new FED Chairman. Also, I don't believe the FED could keep the President out of it's OMC meetings, the way they stonewall Congress. The scandal would be a big deal.
