How's it going people of India? My wife, Me, infant son, and my dog are headed to India in January for a year. We're very excited to get out of the U.S for the first time and experience other cultures. We'll be doing a lot of sight seeing and traveling all over India to see what you guys have to offer.

    I have a few questions:

    Transportation?
We plan on doing a lot of traveling around India and we'll get a GPS for the car, as well. What's cheaper? Buying a Tata Nano CX (and buying a gps) or renting a car for the year? I've estimated the New Tata Nano with a gps will be about $3200 plus $200 for the gps...so $3400.

    Where to stay?
We want a nice affordable villa on the beach? Any affordable cities where we can rent one on the beach for less than 35k rs a month?

Any popular India rental sites? We saw magicbricks.com and 99acres, but they have really no pictures of the places.

As far Car is concerned you should buy a maruti 800 that will cost around 4000 US dollars but it has more space and comfort. with Nano you never know how it would deliver, it's a new car in the market.

secondly, it's a very vague description as to where you would like to reside. India is a big country with different climate in different region. you need to choose a place before you start thinking about the beach

if you are planing to buy a nano you will have to postpond your trip. The nano booking is closed for this year. The Tata only delivers 250 000 units a year.
better you contact some good hotels like Taj etc.
