    Hello Everyone,

    Quick questions for you here!

Firstly, What programs do you currently use when building websites, I am using photoshop and dreamweaver! However, I always get stuck when it comes the exporting/coding side, do you slice it in image ready or is this a waste of time, is it coding appauling from this?

With CSS so dominant do you not even slice using these methods, I know of methods using the marquee select tool and saving images separately to code in to css at a later stage, what do people think of this method? (If I have made sense!)

Finally, What size do you design sites in within photoshop, is there a minimum/maximum and does it matter when it comes to coding it in css!

Sorry for all the questions, I have knowledge of it all it's just piecing it all together in my head to make sense!

Thank you in advance for your replies! Rep points will be added for helpful answers! :D

    Thanks

    Andy

    Hi there!
At first you must know that you'll have to learn HTML and CSS, because this represents the foundation of the web design, and about designing layouts, you just have to practice, practice and practice again cuz this is how you'll get better and better.
About slicing the main layout, you just have to learn css, and than you just select an part of the layout, cut it , copy and than make an new file, paste, save it and there you are!
I'll search for a tutorial, btw good luck dude!

    Later edit:

Dreamweaver and photoshop are the perfect programs!
    1024/768, that's the rez. I make layouts
Just learn css, follow the following tutorials :)

    Notepad++ and a graphics package.

Other than that it depends what i'm coding.

I don't really try to design to a specific resolution unless the client asks me to due to the design. I try make fluid sites more often than fixed size.

Photoshop + Dreamweaver should be enough. I also use Illustrator for logo designs.

Well, the maximum size of main content shouldn't be bigger than 980 px, I think.
