I just bought a 10 year old domain with this exact intention in mind. Put a nice website on the domain and see how much I can get for it.
I wouldn't do it at the moment there just isn't the demand there for people wanting websites, you'll kind it hard to sell I think cause there's a lot more sellers then buyers at the moment.
@enhu - theres know way of knowing the value for sure. It depends on a lot of things like the niche, the current market state, the domain etc. Also, the revenue ( if any ) and traffic play a big factor.
Nope not my book. Wish it was though. I don't do lists. That's so web 0.1 OK some tips. To flip a site you need to find a market that has lots of affiliates. Why because people promoting that niche affiliate are looking to buy sites in that same niche. All they have to do is drop there affiliate codes in the existing ad. That's it they are done building their site in 5 minutes. Most people promoting cb and PPC don't care about rank or indexing. They just want to make as much money as fast as possible before the niche drys up. Twitter sites are a good example. People new to twitter get a blast of ideas and want a site to go with their account. Takes me 2 hours to put one together then list it. They have no clue about rank or indexing. They are looking to market on twitter. I'm going to list one here once it gets a month under it's belt. 2-Make Money on the up sell. That's it I won't say what I do but you can make monthly income on other things. Ok ?
I have been running a couple of sites for quite some time but never tried website flipping. 'tanay46' thanks for sharing those useful pointers. It should come handy. I'll be setting up a website later today to give website flipping a try. Let's see how it goes. SticKer
I'm surprised this isn't actually talked about as much as other methods of income, when it is so profitable. I guess that's one way to do it. On the other hand, I used to setup about 5 websites at once in a high paying niche, work at them for 2-3 months (wait for a PR update, since people go crazy over PR for whatever reason) and then sell them. In that 2-3 months, I'd have earnt a few hundred monetizing my sites already, and by the time I sell them, I'd be looking at $x,xxx at least. Of course, you hit a few dry spells and if it's your only source of income then it's not a good method, but it definitely does earn quite a bit. I've since stepped out of that game and into (in my opinion) much bigger, and better things!
Thanks for the info mate, was a good read and should help a few newbies at starting out flipping site. -Z-
