So, we all know about the million threads about Vista saying things like: You get the idea. Well, you may or may not know this already but you can test your PC to see if it can handle Vista BEFORE installing it. That way you can save yourself some time, grief, and not post another Vista sucks thread. You have to use Internet Explorer to take the test and install the Acitve X control when prompted. Don't worry it's completely safe! Enjoy they test...just please don't turn this into another 'OS vs OS' thread. Click Here For The Vista Test
Well That site is majorily wrong. Says I failed in a few sections, one which is ram. Says I have a nanobyte of ram, I have 1.5GB of ram... Same with processor, hard disk, and screen.
rofl...that's not my site noob. I just thought it was a useful tool because it worked for me. Not sure why it said you had a nanobyte of ram lol.
I'd be more interested in this, if it was a joke and nomatter what values you put in, it said your specs arent high enough... Thats about how it goes with Vista tbh... Personally I cant run that test cause im using Firefox and refuse to use IE, as it's one of MS's worst productions... and that's saying something... It's even got a cheap n nasty feel to it... =\ ergh! Anyway Rant over! :-P Chuckun
I recently upgraded my computer to increase hard drive space and position it as my "business computer". I bought it from the Sony style website as I have been a fan of their VAIO laptops for some time. My only choice of operating system was Vista. Now here's the catch. I haven't bought a PC since 2001, but I've always taken it to mean when you buy a "site license" for a software product, you get installation disks; even if the software is "preloaded". Well, Sony doesn't see it that way. I got no installation disks for the operating system OR the Microsoft Office products I had preinstalled OR the Sony specific software which came with my computer. I even wrote to their corporate offices complaining. I got a call which said basically "that's our policy". They do offer the capability to create "Recovery Disks"; but those only provide a picture of the hard drive and would not give me the freedom to load the operating system on a different computer. I've even gone so far as to contact legal representation to see if I had a case for a class-action suit against Sony. I've yet to hear back. With all its problems, I WOULD NOT recommend anyone buying a computer with Microsoft Vista as the operating system. I might even recommend people buying a Mac instead.
Vista is a good OS in my opinion you just need to work around things i got it running smooth with out any problems=)
everyone know that for vista we need a powerful PC, with 2GB+ Ram. In order to run VISTA smoothly Non need for a test, waste of time
Not really saying I have problems with my Vista operating system, per se. But it does seem to have its "features" which sometimes make it difficult to use. For example, if I have multiple Internet Explorer windows open and close one, oftentimes Vista will "lockup" and I will have to wait one to two minutes until I can operate again. Does anyone else have this problem? I have Vista Home Premium. I also hate the size of the window when you try to save a file. It is Waaaaaaaaaaay too small.
I hate how people that have 512mb ram seem to complain about vista.. i mean seriously just upgrade.. ffs i hate really cheap noobs that complain.. The Lock Up thing you have can be remove.. - reason it goes into that mode is for your safty.. incase you leave your laptop on and a small child.. you get the point - yet just wait for serivce pack to come out.. i never had that problem.. and the size fo the window to small? - what? best say is Change your skin or check your graphic card..
