The Value of Links?

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking at purchasing some links to advertise my site, however because i am fairly new to online marketing i need a quick run down on how much i should be paying for certain PR websites.

    I wouldn't know if a link to a PR5 site was worth $10 or $1000 for a month.

    Thanks

Ha. It ain't worth nothing till around 6 months. Look for a site who has high CTR on ads and high traffic in general. The only traffic you can get on a new website is SEO traffic from having a lot of unique keywords, social bookmarking from joining a ton of sites and submitting your pages, and click-through traffic from articles, forums, blogs, ads, etc.

So before you go buying links, make sure that those links guarantee a certain amount of visitors via click through traffic. Otherwise, you won't see any results at all until 6 months down the line.

There are many informative sites out there on how to raise your CTR. Certain methods produce better results.

Page Peal Ads, Floating Ads, Ads in Middle of Documents, Targeted Ads, and ads of a certain template and wording.

The most important thing after you do some CTR research is to get it on a page with high traffic.

High Traffic Page + High CTR Ad = More Targeted Viewers

Sometimes it's just really hard to tell... However, look at the page and it's quality. Do some back ground work. Ask yourself if you would link TOO the site (yeah, yeah, I know you are paying them to link to you).

Look on the wayback machine to make sure they have not had MAJOR content changes in recent history. That could be a sign they got sold or are planing on screwing you. Check one of those PR checker sites that actually verifies the PR to once again, make sure they are not screwing you. Check out their backlinks through google and see just what is linking too them. If it's JUST directories, there may be something wrong...like they could be screwing you ;)

If you are buying links from DP members check their iTrader, and their posting history. Do custom searches on them and look specifically in the BST section. Then do a search for their username and the word SCAM or SCAMMER and see if they have threads started about them.

    ___________

Buying sig links? Read this first! I started that thread specifically for sig links, but really, many of it's point can cross over to actual pages/sites as well. Even if they can not, sig links may be a viable method you could use to promote a site...

    Price of A PR5 link is between $50 - $100 monthly. So don't incur $1,000 monthly for a PR5 link. Because A PR8 link is $1,000 monthly.
