The Use of rel="nofollow"

    Hello,
    Anyone.. please kindly suggest.

I am not quite sure of the use of rel="nofollow". From google webmaster I understood that by setting the value of the "rel" attribute of a link to "nofollow", I won't lose any PR, right? Suppose I am rewriting some articles of someone's and set his/her links "rel=nofollow", will it be counted as illegal act? By this way i will lose my PR, right?

    Thanks.

it means that if your link which one is placed on your site has contain rel="nofollow" code. Then google spiders will not consider your link on your web page during they visit your site. so if you want that your keyword link should reach to search engine, then you have to give it rel="dofollow" link or nothing any.

If you have heard "Dofollow" and "Nofollow", you must understand that the sites which are dofollow lets search engines to crawl your links on the respective dofollow sites and hence your link is considered as a Backlink.

Nofollow sites or as you mentioned the nofollow code simply block the links from search engines and you get no value or backlinks for that.

    Hope this helps.

it means that google does not follow those links therefore they don't count as backlinks.

    hey dude,
no follow means Please dont follow me.it this tag tells the google spider that please dont follow me.it means that using "no follow " tag will compell the google spider or robot not to consider that url or link

no follow is pretty much like a STOP sign it tells google not to rank you for that ancher text or link that you are trying to rank for.
