Very true. It is for this very reason that democratic societies in places like Palestine and Pakistan produce the leadership they have. Your leaders are simply a reflection of your society, your values. We all get what we deserve. It is for this very simple reason that Israel has the immigration policy it does. It is for the very same reason we should be enforcing our immigration laws. At some point, our cultural values will no longer be our cultural values because we will no longer be us.

I dunno - I think that most U.S. citizens need to go back to High School for a refresher course in why so many countries have the Electoral College and why it is superior to a straight popular vote.
FrontLine did an outstanding documentary on the political careers of Obama and Romney. Strangely enough, they painted Romney as an experienced humanitarian and Obama as selfish and self-centered. The kindest thing they said about Obama is that the man believed his own P.R.. Frontline basically said that Obama expected everyone to fall into a love line behind him - but he couldn't even lead his own party. For the first two years of his Presidency Pelosi ran the country (which was obvious) and Obama was effectively powerless on domestic issues.
