The Unsolved Mystery of Google

On a slightly philosophical note, it still amazes me that the famous algorithm question (how does it work?) remains a partial mystery.

Sure, we know about content and links, but still in many cases a site ranked No1 is often not that different from the site at position 10.

Very few such sought after secrets can boast the same level of success.

Someone somewhere must know how it all works.

I’m new to this forum. Perhaps some of the seasoned pros care to weigh in.

There are many factors involve in Google SERP ranking and its not only links. Some of the other factors which I suspect many are using as so-called guaranteed SEO techniques or no-off page optimization techniques are:

    • No of times the site organic search result is being click through by user (you just need to use different IP address and it will be regarded as different user)
    • How long a user stays in a site and which page is the most popular
    • How many web pages is being viewed by the user

Well certainly there are many other factors involved. Cheers

There is a lot of general information about how it works. The reasons the exact details aren't known are mainly because of the complexity of the formula and the frequent adjustments to it.

It should not amaze you because they spend big money to keep it secret. Once webmasters start to figure it all out, they tweak it to change just enough to keep it a mystery. In reality, could you image how crazy it would be if everyone knew the secret and all tried for number one?

Well, nobody knows the answer for sure because Google constantly changes the weightings. For example, the guys at Google may one day decide that links coming from signatures in forum posts do more spam to their results rather than good.

but on the other hand, it would not really matter, if all webmasters would know the exact algorithm. It would just mean, that we would again all do the same things, as we do now.
I just believe, that google is hiding that, so that no one can make the same search script.

mysterious make google earn money. ;) as people can not figure it out completely, those people will use adwords as the way to get click instead. If everybody can get high rank. no one will buy adword, right?
