Do you look specifically for products like that to promote? I was just thinking- because of the ability to react fast in PPC ads, a good tactic might be to find merchants currently offering special promotions, coupons etc. As long as they convert, of course.

Ms.Reed, definitely, that is one of my first PPC strategies. Almost every merchant has some sort of sale or coupon or special offer, even if the best you can do is "40% off retail."

There are some campaigns I only run on like 4 keywords aimed at special products and some I run on a whole product group. Over the last month I spend like 150$ in ads on adwords and made some 1200$ in sales commissions.

A)Wich is the best landing page you've ever seen?

B)Does any of your laning pages, look uglyer but convert a lot more than others? Any color theme & niche pair? (Woman niche->pink theme etc...)

C)Would be nice if we make a "template" landing pages, and test them, what do you think on that?

    PD: too many questions??? lol.

At last, something from my wish list.....I have been turning my campaigns on and off manualy, it's a bit of a hassle when you live in Australia and the time zones are out of sync or I forget. Anyway doing that has saved me quite a bit of money but now Google does it for us.
Of course I go into this with mixed feelings now....if even a few people start using the function then it stands to reason that the cost per click during the quite hours will decrease and your add will rise to the top.

Google AdWords now has time zones and "Day Parting" - the ability to turn your bids on and off or change their levels at certain times of the day.

They've managed to do this and still keep things pretty simple. This new feature is going to prove to be a very significant advancement for some advertisers. From now one people won't have to manually pause their campaigns, the system will do it automatically for you.

In your campaign settings, you now have an option to set "Ad Scheduling". where you can set your local time and then turn your ads on and off or adjust your bid prices at various times throughout the day, according to how responsive your market is.

Right now I'm not using a landing page, I tried using a landing page and had to change my display URL to my website which proved catastrophic to my campaign. The customers of the product seems to be finicky about the display URL and would prefer the URL of a familiar website rather than my own.

Does Google or Amazon have a problem with affiliates pointing Adwords ads directly at Amazon product pages using their affiliate ID?

    Very cool thread.

    thanks,

Do the "pros" (less newbees) find this to be true ?
(i.e. many adwords ads have their own domain...)

If the domain name is key, any tips on picking it ?

I'm thinking on using a central domain for my different campaigns (maybe something like www.123sites.com/Product_Name )

    Thx,
    C

PS: Very good thread. I've been reading it in one seating (must be some record..did I win something ?). ;)
I been reading it since yesterday afternoon...it is now 5:00AM in Colorado...time to catch a few hours of sleep. I will probably dream about this stuff and these number $xx,xxx/month ...

Do you guys tend to advertise things that pay a percentage commission (i.e. stores with multiple products), or specific products that pay a fix amount on each sale?

I'm currently just researching the possibility of making some money using affiliate programs and I have read most of this thread but one thing still confuses me and I'm hoping tat someone can shed some light on it for me.

You often mention "my sites" and obviously you are using various methods to get people to "your sites" but what exactly are your sites, are you using it simply as a page to drive people to which then gets them to click and buy from an affiliate or do you have sites with meaningful content on that is updated regularly.

I would like to know what anyone belives works best, is it for example a site that has a genuine interest for people, say a site about cars or some other broad appeal subject or is it simply more effective to drive people to a landing page in the hope that they will click and buy from an affiliate.

Its a big world out there and it keeps getting bigger.

    Hi everyone,

I just found this post and need some advice regarding statistics.

Let´s say you start a PPC campaing for a very specific product or service, like hmm

Steelexcorp 8mm diameter stainless pipe (just made that up) or
cheap Dog hotels at digitalpoint village

So, being a rare product, it doesn´t have too much competition so you will mostly get low CPC and low competition.

Now, if the person looking for that product clicks on your ad and goes to a landing page with brief info about the product and a form to make a direct quotation on it...

How much people do you expect to fill the form asking for price?

    1%? 5%? 10%? 20%?

It´s very important to me to have that knowlege before starting CPA campaigns. I know that only experience can tell you if something is or isn´t effective but it´s yet more important if you are doing direct CPA marketing without intermediate networks like CJ or azoogle.
