I have a couple blue spots and both the CTR and conversion are skyhigh.

The key in my opinion is finding the right product. Some products have a lot more people 'just browsing' then others. I have run campaigns for a dozen products and companies and narrowed it down to the campaigns that convert. Products that have a high conversions are mostly known products. Think about yourself shopping online, what are products you buy easily online.

My best converting product only has a 2$ commision but it has a lot of sales and has $0,60 cost per sale. But my favorite products have a 15$ - 30$ commision and an average cost per sale between 5$ and 10$.

Anyone doing PPL, like on Comission Junction?
I've been rejected from a few, but there are a few I'm still waiting to hear from.

I don't know why some reject us, it's mostly automatic and the only reason I can think of is geographic location, which is pretty shortsighted of them.

I applied to everyone in my category a few months ago and some are still pending, sometimes I get another acceptence but I figure if it took them that long to get around to it they probably aren't worth going with anyway.

At CJ the trick is to jump on the new ones as they come onboard, it's rare to be rejected and they usually go out of their way to be helpfull as they are excited and want to get the momentum going asap.

Hey, I got in on one. Now to devise my strategy.

I think some reject because they may feel that unless you have a site that relates well, or has a minimum number of daily impressions or uniques, they are afraid that you will either not convert well (and drag down their conversion stats) or may be likely to use tactics that will "besmirch their good names".

Okay guys, time to give a bit back to you people who have donated their knowledge to this thread......heres a chance to get in early on a unique new product in a niche that hasn't been exploited yet. Within 5 years I would bet that everyone with a computer will be using this product.

I mentioned it to Jimboot by PM about three weeks ago but didn't want to say what it was until I was absolutely sure it was going to work.
I am very suspicious of anything that sounds too good to be true, especially anything to do with MLM, so waited until today when my first check came through.

I haven't really promoted it yet, just threw a landing page onto one of my websites and sent traffic to it via PPC.
I have been paying 11 cents on Adwords and the conversion rate has been excellent.
I'll be upfront here, it is a MLM product so I will benefit from anyone who signs up under me, just don't let that put you off though, it really is an excellent product that people are snapping up.

Heres a link to my landing page, http://bigmoneytips.com/loans.php.
Don't take any notice of the page name, I just threw it together on a PR4 page I had and didn't bother renaming it.

I feel like I just ran a marathon. I read this entire thread over about four hours at the office. I've known in the back of my head that this strategy would work but haven't had the time or balls to act on it.

I'll be starting this evening and will post my results and theories shortly. I also have come across some resources that relate to adword selling that might be helpful to everyone. I'll post links to them shortly. I have to look them up on a separate machine.

Hi again, I wanted to thank you for your answers and post again on the same subject.

Des, where do you look for the right product? Amazon? Any affiliate network?
Which products do you think have less browsing? I can think of hyped gadgets like the ipod, or dvd movies if you know what do you want to get. In short, the user has to know they want that product upfront, but there are users that always do some research first. For example, information products seem to work well, but do people buy them because they know they want them upfront?

I'm currently doing keyword research with the tools mentioned before. Are there any others? What is the strategy everybody uses for this?

    Thank you!!

What address are people putting in the "URL Display" field? I'm having some difficulty with getting ads approved when I put my own URL in instead of the vendor's.

I guess G wants people to use the root destination URLs.

I think is is domain/page.ext that's mostly allowed. Going subdir is really rare.

Thats a good question, I have been having problems with that for a few days now.
It's cropped up with two campaigns I have had running for months without a problem. Now they are saying my URL display is wrong  I changed them twice to keep them happy but a few hours later they were disapproved again. Now I have made them the same as the destination URL. It seems to be working.

Another problem I have encountered which is also strange is that a term I have been running in two different campaigns, has been flagged and I have had to increase my bid price. The strange thing about it is I have been paying under 10 cents and it has been in #3/5.
They want 20cents for one campaign and 30cents for the other one.
I had no choice but to comply and now I am in #1 position, the bloody term rarely gets a click anyway, I can't understand why they picked on that one

Some very strange stuff is happening at Adwords, they must have taken on new staff who are under training :D

This is a very popular thread which I have found out by the number of people who have contacted me about my last post, a lot of people who are D/P members but rarely post are following this thread, it's more popular than Desperate Housewifes :D
I must thank all you people who have shown interest and the ones who have joined the program, I know you will do very well from it. The comments I have received prove just how good a product this is.
Heres the link to my landing page, it's well worth checking out. http://bigmoneytips.com/loans.php

Ok Cyclops if it can convince it can convince anyone.

I'll have a look. As a streaming media specialist for the last 9 years and an MS Windows Media Service Provider I've seen a lot of these things come and go. The problem I see on face value is their press release, I just realised I read nearly a year ago.

Back then they claimed that "The online streaming media industry surged in 2004 ripping through industry forecasts and generated over $956 Billion dollars. In 2005, the industry is expected to generate over $2.1 Billion dollars and within the next 5 years, forecasters are estimating a jump to $12 Billion dollars annually."

    $956Bill!! I don't think so Tim.

Having said that tho if they have a product that works and people are happy with and are paying for it.... and it's converting.. well who am I to talk it down.

However you should know there are a couple of competitors one of the main ones being ComVu. Also you can no longer embed a video in an outlook email and expect it to work as MS have by default nobbled active x controls in Outlook. I 'm not saying that is what these guys are doing. But on their site they do use winmedia.

As I say if I decide to take it up and make sales expect me to invite you over for a "business opportunity" :)

Damn, now I'm up shit creek, trust me to take it to probably the only expert in this field on DP :D

Thats exactly my thoughts, I confess I don't know a lot about the product although I am learning fast, but the bottom line is people are buying it and the longer I am involved the more applications I can see for it.
Next month they are releasing a set top system to place on your TV set, you can sit down and view your emails right there, thats all hush hush until May 6th so thats about all I have managed to find out about it. Their will be a lot more to it than just that though. They are saying it will be huge but thats to be expected.

    Anytime mate ;)

For those that are making it with this system, do you always pay what is necessary to be on the first page? Or do you find that paying less doesn't really make difference?
Also, how much do you pay max? Or what % of what you would make with the sale? And do you always send to a landing page? Or straight to merchant also works?

    Thank you!!
