I really wish I was making money from this.

Ive tried about 5-6 different products, spent $200 and didnt make any profit. Half the products were software, the other half cj stuff.

Ill give it a go using direct affiliation...

Any idea why my conversion rate is 0? I mean ive had like 1000 clicks and only 1 sale...why could this be?

    Pete

Wow! That sucks.... :( unless your product is selling for $1000.00.
I hope I do better than that.... I would stay away from computer technology products. I bet everyone is trying to sell software, computer, and electronics stuff? Word is that Tigerdirect.com has an excellent affiliate program for electronics. If I was going to try one it would be them.

Good luck with your next try!

I'm bailing out if I haven't made but 1 sale after spending $200.00;)

This thread has inspiered me so I decided to jump into the PPC world:)

I am working different than the rest of you guys. I don't use google adwords, I use a PPC company from my country (Romania). They charge 0,006/click, for all keywords, but most of the traffic is from their content network.
The product I have decided to promote is a teeth whitening kit. Here in Romania they have gust appeared and people doesn't know much about this product.

This is day 7 in the buisniss and I'm doing great. For every product I sell I receive 7$. Till now I have spended 42$ and sold 25 products..so 133$ proffit for me :D
Next week I think I will raise my daily budget to 12 $/day..I hope the conversion rate will remain the same.

Regards to all, and thank you again

Stats on my little "learn to draw" project:

    Adviews: 10.537
    Clicks: 127

Would have a lot more clicks if I had a better banner than the one I made myself in 2 minutes :)

However as I have converted exactly none, that proberly doesn't matter much. I belive the fault is mainly in the program that I'm advertising for, the landing page looks quite crap and the program doesn't really sound that good either, so I'm now trying with another "learn to draw" program from clickbank - not looking much better to me though, if any of you know of an art lesson affiliate program, let me know.

I think the end result will proberly be that Zindy and I create our own drawing ebook and try to sell that instead.

Ok ive made a landing page and affiliate stuff for a pretty niche topic, ive also combined some relatively high paying adsense with adwords...(on the same page)

It seems to reduce my needed conversion rate slightly...so thats pretty good. I will see if I get any sales soon... $3 spent so far...

hehe I think I'm starting to get it.

Made my first sale today, $12 for me and only spend $0,60 on clicks. $11,40 profit which is quite nice :D

Maybe I'm just lucky, time will tell :p

For this campaign I had 490 views and 22 clicks. The max budget is set to $15 a day but at the moment I'm getting nowhere near my budget with only about 10 clicks a day.

Can someone explain to me how my ads will show for the keyword I'm bidding for every time someone searches for that term? And how my ads will show up for my keyword in combination with another word as well. Like Buy "keyword" at the moment it only shows for keyword and not for anything in combination with my keyword. I optimized my ads, they have the keyword in both title and description but still not much results.

Then you must use this: [keyword] - if you want to seyy your ad only when type keyword, or "keyword" - if you want to see when type keyword"keyword"keyword ;)

    Des Great Job!

So here is what mine looks like.
    02/02 33 Impressions 1 Click .10
    02/03 211 Impressions 3 Clicks .32
    02/04 177 Impressions 4 Clicks .43
    No Sales.:(

At this rate it will be a month before I see a sale so I added about 25 more keywords and I am waiting on Yahoo/Overture to approve them.

My searchfeed account has not started yet. I'm going to have to call them and find out why. The money's there everything was approved put no activity? :(

    Question:

Hey, whats everyones feelings about using adsense on your landing page to recover some of you money it they decide not to buy. Do you think that's a distraction from your product?

    Thanks,

The answer you do not want: Depends.

You need to test it a bit to see. Something that people do is to bid on keywords that are cheap and then load the landing page with related but different high paying AdSense keywords.

You have to be careful that the landing page make sense for the AdWords campaign, but yet still get the page content to give you high paying AdSense keywords.

This is the extreme case of course. But it illustrates the possibilities of AdSense on the page.

My landing pages have more than one way for traffic to get out (all exits benefit me to greater or lesser degrees). I have used AdSense like this and it has been worth it. But testing is key.

If you do try this, make sure to block your own ads on the landing page domain! (Learned this one the hard way lol)

I am calling this one a success. It doesn't generate much traffic/money and I cannot see how to improve that. My keywords are as broad as I can see making them and are well placed. Maybe I can duplicate the campaign at other PPC places. Never tried Overture/Yahoo for example...

    Fad "x" Campaign - Stats (1/29 - 2/4):
    Clicks/Impr./CTR/Avg. CPC/Cost/Avg. Pos
    533/12,303/4.3%/$0.07/$36.53/1.2

    Outgo: $36.53
    Income: $66.29 (16 sales - $4.14/sale)
    $4.25/day profit
    CV: 3%
    ROI: 81%

Is Miva worth it, do they have any traffic? I thought about signing up but at a £60 minimum startup cost, they better be good.

Update: I spent a lot of time refining my ad text and the happy effect is that my conversion increased.

I tried many different adjectives and this one beat them all:
    "Incredible".

I tried a lot of different texts in the third ad space and what finally won:
    "Free Shipping!".

Another happy benefit so far is that the brand I'm promoting has a lot of other products. While I may not sell the exact item I'm promoting, people are finding other more expensive items and buying those. :)

    A quick update.
I now have just under $400 USD in sales, with a profit margin of around 75% which I am very happy with. Most of my sales are coming from a single merchant that pays $20 USD commission.

I need to work out how to ramp this up now i.e. will I maintain the same conversion rates if I set the daily spend a lot higher? Before I do this I am now trying to isolate my keywords which are selling. To do this without my own landing page I have setup another clickbank account (it is a cb product) and I havge split my adgroups up over the two accounts so I can see where the sales are coming from.

    Jim
