All depends on what you mean by established.
    Is a 5y/o PR0 site established?
Or a 2 months old PR3 site established?

    Hell yeah!

I think if your site is getting traffic, people enjoy and get a benefit from it, and you can make money from it that is all that matters. my site is for enjoyment -- but i have made enough to cover all my hosting costs, domain buys, and for my internet connection -- hopefully it will generate a nice stream of extra money in a few months...but PR isn't critical to me

See now, this is very interesting... only thing is can we get a peak into what your succes is depending on?

No? I would have guessed ;) All good secrets are well worth protecting.

Still, that was mostly my insanely jealousy talking... seriously, congratz on success :) I hope to outdo you some day - or just get closer than the 10$/day I am on right now (it's a hobby - not a full timer! I have two kids, a 80-90.000 $/year job *not-paid-in-$* and a wife with same approx. income).

So, back on topic. I love PR. For us in the directory business, this is way more important than any SERPS what so ever. Guaranteed! If I had a PR7 directory or five I wouldn't have to work anymore (except for the two hours a day that I do for my hobby anyway). It wouldn't matter if I had bad rankings, as long as I had great indexing.

Short of the long story is, there are other factors than SERPS, just like there are other factors than PR. And we don't see more threads about PR than we do about SERPS!

Maybe PR is a bit like a designer label, it has nothing to with quality, just helps those who feel insecure?

... not meaning to offend anyone here ... I think its Google leading people away from what really matters, SERPS.
