The ugly header

    I was just wondering how placing text over a background header image helps SEO. It's just a few sets of keywords.. does it make that much of a difference? I'm seeing a trend with lots of people using text placed over their header rather than adding the text in the header in the actually JPG/GIF.

    Is it that essential to do such things? I'm just wondering because it tends to destroy my overall site designs.. and I tend to like to use logos on the header ;)

    It seems better to have text with h1 tag than text within the image...

    that's the thin ice that I skate on everyday. SEO and design. you want the site to look professional but you still want it to be as SEO'd as possible
