which ratio is better when using the types of keywords (broad, exact and phrase)?

should they all be in both exact and in phrase and then some in broad?

    thank you, john.

If you use as broad match, yes it will be bring you keywords such as "carpet cleaners".

Just put keywords that you do not need in Negative keywords section.

broad match helps you attract more traffic to your website and it also saves your time when constructing campaigns

    Yes and No.

If somebody searches for "Blue Widgets", and your advert appears, you would have the same quality score if you were bidding on Blue Widgets on Broad, Phrase or Exact Match. However, if you were bidding on "Widgets" on Phrase Match, you would be disadvantaged against someone who was bidding on Blue Widgets.

Broad match means that your phrase "carpet clean" will match anything with those two words that is typed in or any variation of those words. For example, if the user typed "How do I get my carpet clean?" or "My clean red carpet" you would be in competition for that phrase.

Exact match means it will only match when the user actually types in "carpet clean".

To answer your question, I generally use broad match keywords unless there is just too many unrelated clicks. If that is the case I will either make the keyword a more specific match or eliminate the keyword altogether. Granted, it may bring traffic but if it doesn't convert often enough to pay for all of the clicks it isn't worth it.

Use all formats of keywords and then look at performance metrics, then decide which ones to keep... I think it will depend on type of keywords
