yeah with ya P - running a real site is not about selling text links..and a strong SEO campaign removes the need for recips with a real internet business we want rankings rankings = traffic (potential conversions) ToolBar PR DOES NOT = rankings the math is simple... monitor rankings not TBPR
Well... in a smaller sense we do look at it as a metric for a sites health.. a PR0 on an established site would cause us to look deeper into the site for potential issues.... so it has limited value TRUE PageRank is a factor in the ultimate rankings but since 2002 it has slowly been devalued as a factor and as such the metric as a value/tool has decreased. That's where it all started... once upon a time it was a VERY valuable metric..such is no longer the case ..add in the sporadic updates/exports... it's value is diluted even further....
Yes it is, you can't determine the real PR unless all datacenters acquire the same PR that sites have.
