    Spot on - outside of selling links/sites/etc - PR is of little value. Doing SEO to get PR is silly.

    yeah with ya P - running a real site is not about selling text links..and a strong SEO campaign removes the need for recips

    with a real internet business we want rankings

    rankings = traffic (potential conversions)
    ToolBar PR DOES NOT = rankings

    the math is simple... monitor rankings not TBPR

    Thanks for that.
    Perspective is everything.
    So, it's a measuring stick for nothing important.

    Well... in a smaller sense we do look at it as a metric for a sites health.. a PR0 on an established site would cause us to look deeper into the site for potential issues.... so it has limited value

    TRUE PageRank is a factor in the ultimate rankings but since 2002 it has slowly been devalued as a factor and as such the metric as a value/tool has decreased. That's where it all started... once upon a time it was a VERY valuable metric..such is no longer the case

    ..add in the sporadic updates/exports... it's value is diluted even further....

    Yes it is, you can't determine the real PR unless all datacenters acquire the same PR that sites have.
