It's going to become more saturated, which imho is a good thing because there will be more choice of available merchandise to buy or resell. The down side if avoiding bad quality and bad companies or resellers.

How could ecommerce ever fade away with the existence of online shopping? If online shopping ever goes, then ecommerce goes. In my opinion, as long as we are connected via the internet, ecommerce will continue to thrive. Good luck and all the best.

    Hello,

like others here said, when online shopping will decrease, it will effect directly on e-commerce. but, i dont see it at all. i think that e-commerce will develop more and more in the future.
so all of us are in great situation.

only good luck, that's what we need!

As long as we can keep the internet from turning into a cable companies a la carte format, ecommerce will be around for all of us. It's when the big players start buying walls to put up and drive the cost of entering the market place up, is when ecommerce will start to die.

Did the CEO in the original post mean to infer that ecommerce would die out in the future? How the heck could it as more and more people get comfortable buying things online?!?! In years past, the fear for those not buying online was security..."won't my information be stolen?" kind of thing.

I think those fears have been significantly minimized in recent years as I would assume now that the majority of people have no worries using ecommerce. And with the growing popularity of smart phones, it's only going to get faster and more convenient to order online.

It has grown every single year that the internet has existed. I simply cannot believe that the CEO of Alibaba said that. His entire business model is based upon the success and growth of e commerce. It has to be a misquote.

You've got to see that in context. Its very likely that he sees the future going in a direction that the average person would still consider to ecommerce but isn't really.

A bit like when people were saying that the end of the internet was near because people were using apps and not webpages. We're still connected the same way, just the tools look different. Still the internet really.

I suspect Jack Ma's thoughts could be similarly misinterpreted.

In my opinion, the future of e-commerce will be very bright. We are heading towards a digital era and things like digital marketing, mobile technology, e-commerce, m-commerce will be very competitive.
