The Traffic Ceiling

I feel like I have hit the maximum amount of traffic I can for my site in its current state, and I'm not impressed - I'm only getting ~50 uniques per day.

I rank very well in google, most of my real traffic comes from there.

I have spent hours trawling the web, looking for sites in my niche, and swapping links with them. I have also submitted to quite a few directories. I get close to 0 traffic from links on these sites.

At the moment, I dont have many posts (the site is fairly new), should I just keep on posting unque, quality content, and see how that goes?

Is it time to pay for advertising? Or would that be burning money?

I really want to increase my relevant traffic.. And I need some motivation :(

    Any tips?

Definitely keep adding pages - ie GO WIDE. Every page of quality content that you add, optimize it for relevant keyword phrases. Then get inbound links to those internal pages.

Keep doing this, give the site one good year... and you'll be good to go ;)

I havent looked at your site yet by the way - so this is generic advice. I own several content sites in various niches myself, small ones, big ones, ugly ones, pretty ones, etc. This is what has worked for me.

I think I just want to see some payout for my efforts! I guess that is why so many websites fail..

I know, patience is a virtue, good things come to those who wait, etc..

    Thanks for the help.

I do try to target my keywords, which (I think) is one of the reasons I rank so highly in google. A seach for "artist" - "album" review sometimes sees me in the #1 spot, so I must be doing something right!

If I didn't enjoy the topic, I would have given up long ago! I do enjoy writing my content, so thats a big positive I guess :)
