I came across this article today, that listed 100 alternative search engines. The article was last updated in Feb. 2007, but most of the links are still active, and I typed in a few in alexa, and they do have traffic. If nothing else I thought it would help some new dp members find some more good search engines to list in. If this has been added here before I am sorry, I just though it was a nice list. You will have to scroll down the page to see the list. Thanks everyone, and keep up all the good work http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/top_100_alternative_search_engines.php
Usually, these se's feed off the bigger se's results, so either way, your site will be picked up. Thanks though. What part of NC are you from?
That is a pretty good list. anarmyofme is right, quite a few of them (meta search engines) do take results from bigger search engines. I would like to see a list of genuine crawler-based engines that keep their own indexes. In my opinion they are the ones to watch due to their potential to compete against the larger companies. BTW, there some on the list that are not meta search engines so just submitting to the larger engines will not get you listed on them. -- Nathan Enns
