It's the one issue that most of his base agrees upon. If he actually spoke about his plans to radically increase government control and reduce individual freedom in America, he would lose the support of some of his base.

    Age discrimation; too funny. :D

Actually both candidates want to talk about the war but the american public is not so interested about it these days as they are about the economy. The economy is not the strength of either candidate, they both see their strength as their position on the war with their base. Obama's strength is that he opposed the war before it began(although I believe he probably would of voted for it in the senate like 77% of the other senators did) and McCain's strength is his war experience and claim that his support of the surge has worked. McCain wants to be the old warrior who will protect you from bad guys.

    Excellent post LogicFlux!

The war in Iraq has long been in a maintenance and caretaking stage, where our main goals are to nurture the Iraqi government and help it learn to fulfill it's job of protecting all of it's citizens.

In other words, the war in Iraq hasn't been terribly newsworthy lately.

McCain should be out there talking about other issues. Unfortunately, there appears to be an effective media blackout of John McCain right now. The only way he's going to get on national news right now is to show up drunk at his next campaign event.

Obama, on the other hand, doesn't really need to talk about anything. His best campaign move is to show up and look pretty. The national media will respond, as they always do, by fawning all over him.

Wow, I guess honesty has gone out of fashion in the Muslim community.

You just made that quote up out of thin air.

The actual quote, which you didn't even come close to, was just part of McCain's usual self-deprecating humor.

But I guess humor is a function of intelligence and some people will just never get it.

Does everyone remember Ron Paul owning McCain on econ at the SC debates?

That was probably Paul's best debate, although he gets credit for the one where he PWNed Rudy.

Paul asked McCain about sunlight and the President's Economic Working Group, and McCain had no idea what he was talking about, replied with some nonsense about (what we can only assume was, economic) sunshine and named people who were already on the working group, that he would consult with.

Like saying, I will meet with the President and Vice President, including Dick Cheney and George Bush.

McCain is an idiot, and he's horrible on the economy, horrible on foreign policy, and he's an @ss.

Oh God, not the Paul loonies again... as if Ron Paul is relevant to the Presidential race.

Those dorks are harder to get rid of than toenail fungus.

Hold on, let me bring up some random irrelevant crap about Dennis Kucinich...

He's been quoted talking about this a couple of times.

An Interview with Tim Russert where he dies it:

I'm also a firm believer that stopping the war will directly affect our economy.

When it comes to Obama Vs. McCain on an issue like the economy, I think he better choice is blatantly obvious.

I also think it's kind of strange how McCain talks about how congress and the government overspends itself, yet he supports a terribly expensive war which now seems pretty frivilous to me.

If you've read Obama's Recipe for Disaster, the choice does seem blatantly obvious.

    Compared to what?

Please cite sources. I'm less interested in opinions and more interested in facts.

There are only two choices to compare here.

I wish there were more. If that crazy bitch had won the Democratic nomination, I might be voting for her. Instead, I am forced to support John McCain because he's the lesser of two evils.

And that's saying a lot, because John McCain is pretty goddamned evil.

But, compared to Barack Obama, McCain will make a great president!

Why do you think Obama is evil, besides the quotes taken out of context?

    Read Barack's BluePrint for Disaster.

Barack apparently learned economics from old Joe Stalin.

Policing the world costs too much.

Our economy gets worse everyday. The dollar is dropping slowly but surely - which sucks for me because I have to exchange my earnings to Pesos every month.

Another baseless and senseless personal attack. Are you just trying to get banned again?

What do you know about Hinduism in the first place? How much time did you spend studying the religion before you mindlessly attacked it?

I wouldn't go so far as saying he learned economics from Stalin, but he has Socialist influence.

This only gives reason for the poor and middle class of America to support him, and the ultra rich to be afraid.

But I don't know what you're afraid of. The 50's are over, and the new fear fad is terrorism.

    America will always be capitalist.

I think McCain would really run the country into the ground - an economic bonehead that supports the war... It wouldn't be impossible to see another nice long depression in our lifetimes. That's not really something I want to live through.
