The keywords maybe expensive, but just like any other thing on the internet that can make you money, the competition here is very very tense.

Its not fun if you dont have competition, i might even try my luck with one of those from the list. Just have to wait for my summer holidays to start so that i have more time.

I usually get a list of 500 and usually always ignore the first 250 because those are for sure keywords you will never rank for.

Well said. Some keywords are close to impossible to rank for.

 

Those are cool keywords. Here's what I would do:

Built a site with 5-10 pages of content around those keywords.

Then optimize the site for the long tail keywords. So I do a bit of research and rather rank for 10 - 20 long tail terms than for an individual top keyword.

Run a PPC campaign (this essentially is arbitrage, but works anyway) and not pay any more that $.10c per click. You should see a return very very quickly.

Once you begin ranking better for keywords then you can scale down the PPC and focus on organic stuff.
