The top 10 directories?

Hi All,

I can't really be bothered with submitting our sites to all the directories out there. Most of them will bring nothing IMHO.

If you were to limit your submissions to just 10 of the best, which ones would you cover. (I'm after ones where you can submit for free.)

You don't have to provide a list of all 10. I'd just like to get an idea of those ones which everyone here feels are a definite 'must'.

The top 10 either too hard to enter or too expensive

 

those are either paid or 'good luck' directories. I would although probably agree that those would probably be about the top 10 tho....

 

What are the chances of getting list in one of these directories, free or paid. Also all the free ones really are not free because they require a backlink from you site. Is it worth giving a backlink and will it increase you chances of getting listed?

DMOZ,

but editors there are so busy

 

to get good list of directories you can visit directorycritic.
There you will all types of directories including niche, paid, free, reciprocal.

 

How long does it really take for a listing on DMOZ?

If you've waited a year, is it time to resubmit or give up?

 

DMOZ and ODP are top, best of the web, there are a ton of other options such as v7n -- view top directories by pagerank on Google

 

I get more traffic out of Blog Directories like Blog Catelog than I do Yahoo Directory as crazy as that may seem.
