Fits my theory that google has fixed the redirect directory problem - rank/pagejacking. You would have been a perfect target for them - relevant with moderate PR.
Seems to me the top 10 on most of the money words are now in the hands of the spammers/scrapers. Not a very good resuly when you compare to MSN.
All of my key words have settled down to the usual jostling, looks like the excitement is over for me.
Same here for me.. a little bit of variation, but the massive gains from the weekend have (so far!!) stuck. I do hope that this update sticks!
Not me, I think the serps now are not as good as they used to be. Either way, I just want it to level off so I can make whatever changes are necessary.
Has anyone else noticed that pre-Superbowl Update results are creeping back accross the datacenters? I hope I'm not just crazy, but my old rankings are starting to show up more and more frequently...
Agree, Summer. By Tuesday mornin all datacenters were showing same result for me. By Tuesday night I was seeing about 50% old results and 50% Superbowl results. Things were still mixed yesterday and today. Shannon
I haven't checked the data centers, only the kw tool. So far, the bleakness is ever looming. After I finish updating my site and making sure all my meta tags are good to go and that the content is kw rich, I should see the site come back up in the serps.
VS, I am noticing that there has been steady fluctuation. One site that was completely wiped for 20 or so terms creeps back in for a day or two with a few terms, then gone again. I wish I had bought one of the Ambiet Orb's and integrated it with my Keyword Tracker account, that thing would be smoking right now
You and me VS... biting our nails and hoping Yea, some small incremental changes and hopefully they continue to happen. As I stated earlier, this is the worst update I have ever seen. My geo-targetted KW phrases were taking huge hits and for no real reason. Strange... but let's keep hoping VS...
Some of us are pretty darn happy with this update, with sites coming out of the sandbox. All of my sites, except one, have seen increases on this update...so I can't complain. Most likely other sites dropped because there's a little more competition up and running now. My Google serps are very similiar to Yahoo's now. I had one site, that maintains aggressive link building which took a huge hit. My others sites are much more targeted (and slow growth). I'm definitely going to stick to my theory that unique content and cross-promotional relationships are better than blanket reciprocal link exchanges. It definitely seems that quality beats out quantity by far.
I would have to disagree. The sites that replaced my previous geo-targetted rankings were the same ones that were always in the 30 - 50 range. They are now #1. Spammy sites that really offer no relevant products or services. Poorly designed sites that are outdated or never updated...
I've been checking the datacenters with the McDar Datacenter Quick Check and am getting some strange results: Datacenter: 64.233.161.105 Position: 124 URL: http://directory.google.com/Top/Shopping/Clothing/Undergarments/Lingerie/Fine/ Datacenter: 64.233.161.147 Position: 124 URL: http://directory.google.com/Top/Shopping/Clothing/Undergarments/Lingerie/Fine/ Datacenter: 64.233.171.99 Position: 3 URL: http://www.hustlerpanties.com/ Datacenter: 64.233.171.104 Position: 3 URL: http://www.hustlerpanties.com/ Datacenter: 64.233.171.105 Position: 3 URL: http://www.hustlerpanties.com/ Datacenter: 64.233.171.147 Position: 3 URL: http://www.hustlerpanties.com/ The "old" data is where I ranked #3 and my URL is correct. The "new" data is where I rank #124 and the URL is pointing to the Google directory (where my site is listed). WTF?!
I *believe* the quick check does an inurl: check - which would mean that the directory is ranking above your domain on the "New" results pages..
Nope. I did an inurl and the Google directory doesn't come up for my website. I repeat...WTF?! So Google is saying that my website listing in their stupid directory is a more relevant search result then my actual website. That's f#@$ing awesome.
Its been back and forth - right now the Pre-Superbowl results are only showing in 6-8 DCs. Seems to me that During the day it was upwards of 18.
