I was on another forum, and I discovered this. demya.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=192 It is a site that sells a spam bot that will spam forums...... I'm not advertising it, I'm just pointing out that if you get spammed, it might be from these guys. But, they only target "large" forums. The site is in Israel. Is it possible to sue, or file complaints to something? I was hit by this recently....
there isent much you could do in the way of legal action unless you have a large ammount of evidence that suggests that they purposefully attacked your forum... and at any rate after the cost of taking somone to court for something like this you would probally still be at a loss money wise. not allowing guests to post usually is a good option to stop bots along with capatcha images on registration
The bot registers, and can bypass capatcha and intelligence questions It registers in a different IP every time....
Sounds like you support the site or have lots of "positive" opinions on the bots. Block the number of threads (connections) that are allowed to be made. This usually stops the bot or most perl scripts dead in their tracks or reads an error "unable to connect/open a socket" for the bot user.
