has anyone come accross this guy? http://www.thesocialmillionaire.com selling tags on his site for $5 each. what do you think?
It has PR0, and it is totally crowded with links. I think the links will be totally useless if you ask me
Yeah there was a post when he first launched, I did bag out on the launch of the site and I have also read a few blog posts about the guy and site, personally I still think it's crap and don't see it going far - I think he needs 20 000 tags to reach $100 000 and 200 000 tags sold to reach $1000 000 - so that's a lot of tags to be on one page LoL.
The link is useless it's just a link farm, and Google will if it hasn't already will just red flag you send your PR to nothing and even ban you from the search engine if he dosn't put a no follow on those links.
It's a clever spin on the oh so popular wordcloud concept of years past except it' PR0. I can't see it gaining any PR in fact that's all I have to say. It's also blatant link buying which is just wrong today. I wish him well but it's not sustainable.
I am lost as to where the social part comes into this ? OK so maybe he is advertising on social sites. But why will anyone or any member visit the site ? It's no like the social site members are interested in the tags. Can you see members at MySpace saying "Hey check out this site full of words" ? To the common person this site wont make sense.
what is the same idea was done with images, instead of tags? and what if it was aimed at artists?? just a thought
I think it's just a selling point that is pulling in quick thinking webby people to pay the price. "Oh, it's a social site, better hop on this!" then they pay $5 and hope for mass amounts of traffic through Dummblestiggs. Buying links should be like crossing the street. STOP! LOOK! LISTEN! lol. Q
do you think it would work for artists, like this?? http://milliondollartpage.wordpress.com/ so the homepage turns into a giant gallery and then you click to go to the pages? (i just did a quick mock up)
Very old The one millon dollar time pass away... It is my personal opinion, people need new ideas... The one millon pixel was the best idea...
Close it down! The whole thing is useless to the advertiser turn it into a send me 5 bucks website because that's all people are doing. Your never going to get any real traffic from it and your never going to get any link juice from it so where is the value? The whole "Million Dollar Whatever" time is long dead.
I would be looking at a widget aswell, similar to ScratchBack.com - that's a cool idea, I was thinking about a widget like ScratchBack some time ago. But I would have the most recent tags or image links purchased across all the sites where widgets are embedded and then you would also need to reward the bloggers - so I would have a top list of some kind showing on the widget where the top 20 websites sending traffic to the site would be listed (or even reward the bloggers with 50% of earnings like ScratchBack.com do), and then have the links or images (like you do now). I am being kind of vague as someone might make money from my ideas . P.S It's not useless at all, as the above posters are saying, it just needs a 2.0 Touch about it .... Like the widget Idea. If you are passionate and get the ball rolling, traffic and support will follow.
I see what you're saying but ... Typically these things prosper when the users get value from it and the guy in the middle makes a million. What really happens except the guy running it making a million? Still wish him all the luck as he has ambition / initiative which most don't.
Well I hope he at least recovered his paid Jon Cow and John Chow reviews... Poor guy. 2 years late and a million dollars short...
Yeah same here, I wish the guy the best of luck too. I mean the website may get aload of links through linkbait and maybe the links do have some value.
A little less than a million short, actually. So ... the conversation seems to be about what fails here, but the guy has apparently sold a couple grand. Heck, that's nothing to sneeze at!
