take a look at this site

    http://www.freelayouticons.com/

look at the skyscraper banner on the left side and notice that as you scroll down the page, it follows you.

how do they do this? javascript? and if so, do you think it's allowed?
i sent adsense an email asking them if this sort of thing is allowed but in the meantime i wanted to see what you think while i wait for a reply from them.

I wonder if this would not violate Google TOS as when you scroll down the "Ads by Google" text does not follow the ads.

Unless this is a premium publisher, this definitely IS a violation of policy. I've asked about this directly of Google in the past and was told it is NOT allowed.

The way to do get the skyscraper to follow you on the screen is to embed it in a div and with css set it's position to 'fixed'. A quick google search told me that won't work in IE6, but aparently there's a work around: http://www.cssplay.co.uk/layouts/fixed.html

There is a fix to get around IE6, but the whole idea is moot unless you're not that attached to your adsense account lol

With an Alexa of 60,000 they MAY be premiums so they could be allowed to do this.

Darn... Wish I was allowed ads like that lol.

They give all the good implementations to the bigger guys :( so unfair.

How's this against the google TOS? I see no reason for it to be against the TOS at all. Since the 'ads by google' thing is visible at first, I don't see the problem. I mean, look at my site, 'ads by google' disappears as people scroll as well - pretty normal website behavior.
Also: the system can easily be modified so that it does keep showing 'ads by google' and still work.

It IS against their policies...they've said as much in personal correspondence with them. It alters the delivery of the ad, but if you wish to implement it, be my guest, just don't say you weren't warned :)

Definitely, definitely, it's against the TOS.

It shouldn't be allowed to premium members either.
