Purely out of interest: 5 People set up a website with the sole aim of raising money. Target, lets say $1 Million. (Remember the kid who sold the 1 million pixels?). Okay - let's take the pixel idea, lets imagine that it had NEVER been done before until now. 5 People have the same, similar idea as the pixel website, they launch their site at the same time. Person 1. 17, male, needs the money to pay for college. Person 2. 18, female, needs the money to pay for college. Person 3. 28, male, needs the money to take care of his sick parents. Person 4. 45, female, needs the money to buy a new car, house, holiday without getting into debt. Person 5. 40, female, needs the money to get away from violent partner and start afresh life elsewhere. Now remember, all 5 people have the same "NEW" idea. They all launch at the same time and all 5 are getting wide coverage on media and forum sites with their "story" on why they are doing this. Which one is most likely to make the target? Which one would you give that dollar to, and why?
Probably #5 and #3. In that order. Although our opinions here won't really matter. The next person will say it's #2. Then someone else will say it's #4. And on and on. You will end up feeling more confused than when you first started.
@qwikad.com is right about the value of this survey. However, I am the exception that proves his rule: I agree with #5 and #3 in the same order.
