That's really cool! I'm gonna setup a test blog and see if it works for me.

Thats a valid point since time is money. Also we have no information on the loyalty of the fresh customers not the domino effect of their referrals if any.

I dont neccessarily agree- I would experiment with your ctr's with certain blogs/forums/news sites and possibly route them to seperate landing pages with seperate adsense channels and then build on those that convert. Some of the pros here on DP might have a simpler idea..
This I do know: Traffic is great, but targeted, paying traffic is king;)

ps- the idea about recent comments isnt neccessarily true either..older posts have a higher chance of being indexed by the se's, and there will be traffic from those links as well.

If a post has 200 comments which one do you think has a better chance to get a click?

    a. the first comment that is on top of the comments list, right after the post.
    b. the last comment that is on the bottom of the page.

I think we will have to agree on disagreeing about this. Since most people don't bother to write a comment on a blog, I wonder how many bother to read the comments. The ones that do read comments will probably give more attention to the first comments instead of the last ones.

ps - the older posts being indexed by se's might be true, but in this thread we are talking about CalGuy's case which is instant traffic, not "long term traffic".

I've found the closer my comment is to the top, the more traffic I receive.

I am not sure I can believe you CalGuy. You have been asked many times in this thread how many posts you made and how long it took you but you don't even respond to any of those posts. Not sure what to think.
I estimate that a good comment on a good blog may yield 5-10 clicks a day, which would mean you would have to make an enourmous amount of comments plus spend a lot of time to find this many relevant blogs. Kind of hard to believe someone can get this kind of traffic from comments alone.
Sorry to speak my mind this freely, you are welcome to respond accordingly or to ignore my request for more details.

been online for some time but have not been able to see these kinds of impression.
have seen similar earnings myself but with way too low impressions.
will really like to know how you get so much traffic.

    Hi,
I found the topic title quite interesting and i hhad read all the comments till now.
I agree with andre75 with his comment that Mr calguy has not provided any info about the no of blogs he has commented to and also which blogs.
I checked the site and sitemeter statics. He actually gets a huge traficc as he claims.
Checking the referal initially for first two pages it has been mainly from glamour and adult content site.
Also the comments made by Mr. Calguy are in the same category.
If one has to just acquire traficc in this manner one can definitely get a good traffic.
But according to me it is against my ethics to do so.
I havent checked other refer pages so cant comment on other sites

I am wondering how you go about just writing articles and getting them picked up on sites like Cal guy says. If this does happen, where do you really advertise for your site? I am sorry if I am just completely lost, I am trying to learn as much as possible.

BrandonAtNite as far as im aware i dont think that Cal Guy has been posting articles as such, he said its from leaving comments on blogs, but he has not mentioned how many comments he is having to make daily/weekly etc to gain the traffic that he does, that i would definately like to know.

If you look in the serps at certain niche kw phrases... most of the higest ranking sites get there because of numerous blog comment spam postings.

While of course that technique works in the short term... those individuals churn and burn domains.

lol - you can believe what you want. I probably leave ~10 comments a day on blogs. I never said all my traffic comes from comments. I've been linked on fark twice (NOT main page; the entertainment section) and linked on collegehumor once.

If you don't believe my traffic, maybe this can help:

Dude what are you talking about? I get zero referral traffic from so-called "adult content sites" (maybe we just have a different idea of what constitutes an adult site).

Actually, I don't know if I mentioned this (my threads are running together), but I submit every article to 5+ link/article sites. Not all my traffic comes from comment referrals...

I NEVER post a URL alone (what I would consider spam). I always have a pointed/funny comment.
