I think i have to agree, though not in MSN where the blog is happily indexed and ranked first for business nerd (no big acheivement).

Might be nice to see how fast its indexed after some directory submissions.

It would certainly be worth trying on one directory after being on one forum for a month.

everylink has value however the same link with the same anchor text from the same domain times' X = nulled down links, I believe if you had one link or maybe even two from here then maybe, but with it in Vigors sig and Alan Murray's and whoever elses could of really helped to null it down.

My thoughts are still towards the site being possibly being penalised by Yahoo and Google, it's insane that Yahoo have found the links but won't index you, not ranking you I could understand, but not indexing!? what's that about? I reckon you've been penalised by Yahoo and Google in some way

But yeah, I vote you carry(ish) the experiment on with directories and see if that gets indexed quicker.

I can add a link from my web design site to see if it gets indexed if you wish?

I disgree about every link having value. Maybe a few years ago but Google has changed

A well crafted sig can draw targeted traffic. I think this experiment shows that sigs should be designed with that goal in mind.

I certainly thought the specific links have been devalued but never thought it went as far as having no value!

The confusing thing is that some of my other sites have a few links in Google from dp sigs, so why doesn’t the blog get any? Perhaps sig links aren’t enough to get you indexed but might hold some value once you have been indexed?

the link from your web design site is Vigors call as it's his experiment :)

I would say every link (in a good neighbourhood) gives some value, even if it is 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of a good link

Yes It is up to Vigor what to do next.

Yes probobly every link has a small value but with Google trustrank these '0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of a good link' will be Filtered out.

Dammit Alan, I'm a whole 1 postcount behind you :)

hmmm, interesting thing there Alan, so are you saying a URL needs trust before it gets indexed or for a link to count towards rank?

I think Google does accept them, however because there that minor it makes practically no difference

That makes sense. I also have backlinks from sig links from forums, but it appears the value is not large enough or too small to get a site indexed by itself!

I've always heard that to get a site indexed quickly you need a backlink from a high ranking website (preferably from the home page)

Just wondering if the value of a directory backlink is enough to get the site indexed!

Well it took a while but ive done about 200 directory submissions.

theseokit: Forum links do not get you indexed at all in google or yahoo, they do in MSN though.
