So i've been running an online business for two years earning around $X,XXX monthy until I got married and relocated with my husband. Right now I am working online earning $X,XXX still. I am planning to put up several niche sites. In fact, I already have around 10. I've been writing content since last year and right now, I have probably around 50 packs of articles on different niche topics (10 articles per pack). Each pack can be published as a niche site. I've also figured out to use a plug and play wordpress theme for all my sites (just ad a nice header and it's done). I have also figured out my marketing campaigns. However, I feel overwhelmed with all the things that I do online. I understand that it takes a while for the sites to take off and really pull a lot of visitors. Sometimes when I'm really frustrated, I sell some of my article packs here on DP for $80-$100 for 10 articles. I think it's the impatient part of me that says to sell them. So what do you think guys, should I continue to build sites and be patient for traffic to come or what? I just inspired by a 13 YO kid here who receives 11,000 page views per day for his site. Sometimes I am getting impatient, discouraged, and overwhelmed. Seems like I want to be instantly gratified for all efforts that I exert. By the way, my target is to build 100 niche sites. I can do two sites a day. Another Q: should I market the site after I'm done with it or finish everything then concentrate on marketing? Should I hire someone to market the sites instead while I focus on buiding them?
I'm not following....If you're using the same template for all the pages just different content you should be able to turn all of your articles into webpages in a few seconds. Why only two sites a day?
It seems you are enjoying what you are doing - illustrated by the fact that you are willing to create more sites despite not getting the results you envision just yet; so I think you should continue to build sites. I also think you should market the site after building - so you are building another site whilst the completed sites are building momentum. You will also have a chance to see which sites are performing and consequently where you direct your efforts. If your goal is 100 sites you may have to hire help as the workload of marketing existing a high number of sites while building more may be high.
Your goal is to not put in more time and get back less than a minimum-paid worker. In the beginning, yes, but to continously do it??? How much time are you putting in towards all of these sites? Let's say you have 50 sites. Do you have any idea the amount of time you are going to have to put in, just to advertise them, and then keep them updated to the point where you want your visitors coming back, time after time? Then again, maybe you have X amount of sites, and they are already making, say $100 a month??? But, again, how many hours are you putting into them? You have to go into each one to make sure it is still up and running. You have to get the word out for each one. You have to keep each one updated so you can get repeat visitors.... Perhaps you should consider doing this, if you haven't already: Build one GOOD site at a time, and then see if you can first get at least X amount of monthly visitors before building your second site. Anybody can put up just any ol' site. Getting repeat traffic, however.... Once you are sure you can get repeat traffic on site #1, have them go to your second site with a well-worded ad(s). Combine all your other sites' visitors along with the ones you are getting from advertising and word of mouth on your next site. On and on and on.... I'm sure you don't want 100 sites where most are dead, and the rest are just so so. Hell, even 25 sites, for that matter. What is this 13-year old's site, and where did you hear he gets that many daily hits???
Hi streams500, If interested we can offer you our services, this will help you concentrate more on your core business. Please refer to sig, let's talk.
Because I am also a full time mom and my 2 month old baby requires full attention when awake. I think I can do five a day. I also purchased a Wordpress mailing list plugin which takes forever to upload on FTP. Well not entirely plug and play. I have to customize some colors, activate and configure plugins, design a nice header and upload all articles. I think it's a good idea to market the website as soon as it is done. For now I am using article marketing and forum posting. I allot three articles per site to submit to article directories like ezinearticles.com but I use a paid article submission service for this. My goal for each site is to turn it into a static site which includes very useful and well written articles on the topic. I will also include some videos pulled from YouTube that are related to the topic. I think this is quite effective in driving traffic since I already did an experiment with my beauty site which I completed last November 2007. What I did was to include how-to videos on putting makeup and even included before and after pictures of women who like to put on makeup on a daily basis. I just submitted two articles on ezinearticles pointing to that site and posted on two makeup forums and then posted in a beauty group on MySpace. Until now I still get around 400 traffic a day and 32 subscribers to my RSS feeds. I didn't even devote that much time in marketing it. So I guess the key is PATIENCE. Here's the 13 YO's thread (he's 14 now btw) - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=714489 Do you think your website's copy also plays a big role in pulling traffic? What do you think of publishing one or two intriguing articles? I think The Rich Jerk is a big fan of this strategy.
Oh and also, there's this 13 YO blogger (who is already 14 now) who is no.1 on Google for keywords, "Make Money Online" - carlocab(dot)com I discovered though that the guy behind this blog is not the kid but his father. One blogger that I know met up with this kid at a restaurant in Manila and interviewed him about his site. Read more about it here: Controversy: http://www.yugatech.com/blog/pinoy-bloggers/will-the-real-kid-blogger-please-stand-up/ The Meeting: http://www.yugatech.com/blog/pinoy-bloggers/yuga-meets-the-kid-blogger/ What do u think of this marketing ploy? I kinda find this misleading.
The site he is talking about is getting less than 1,000 daily hits. In other words, he lied. Yeah, it is misleading. There are many webmasters pretending to be "just a kid" in the hopes of bringing in more visitors.
well you inspired a 15 year old kid that has 30 000 unique visitors to not give up I own wowmafia.org , its a game , advertised using forums and toplists. Its much more fun when you have 1 website doing well instead 100 doing poorly. I make about 500$/week in sales of my product + 200 with zango. Sure its good money for a 15 year old but i like to get bigger. Its much different having one website. There are many ways to make quick money and to market a website, its just a matter of breaking it down: 1. Will my site include a community or a website with content? 2. Is this website better marketed with blogs, videos, toplists forums or ppc? 3. How will I profit? PPC?Affiliates? ( go for zango if u want ez money)
I made the mistake of trying to juggle too many niches at once. You really need to focus on one that is making the most money. Even if you are working the same amount of hours you will find less niches more relaxing.
Hi Mafiaboy. Thanks for the tips. Anyone of you here who heard of a couple in Singapore who made more than $1 Million in 2006, mainly from Adsense? They revealed their tricks in their short-lived Adsense Resurrected ebook (1 bought the draft for $97 then they decided to discontinue it after a month). Turns out they own more than 1,000 static sites and still growing.
